Miss World America Queens

Hello my sisters and brothers in Christ!

I pray you and yours are doing well. I've been doing wonderful, thanks be to God! As you may already know from previous posts, I will be competing next month for the title of Miss World America and the opportunity to represent the United States at Miss World 2016 (#MWA2016). In this post, I want to share some tidbits about the reigning queen as well as few past queens. The reigning Miss World America is Victoria Mendoza from Arizona.

The first American woman to win Miss World is Marjorie Wallace from Indiana in 1973. The second woman to win Miss World from the United States is Gina Tolleson from South Carolina in 1990, the year I was born. The most recent woman to be crowned Miss World wearing the United States sash is Alexandria Mills from Kentucky in 2010. Other famous women who have represented the United States at Miss World in past years include actresses Halle Berry of Ohio (1986; finished 6th place) and Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter of Arizona in 1972. Halle Berry was the first Black American woman to represent the United States at Miss World.

My home state of Maryland has yet to win the Miss World America title. I pray that I will be that woman who wears the crown for Maryland and the entire America next month. Amen.
